My name is Amy Schelle and I am the maker behind Sewn Handmade. I have been sewing since high school but (as things usually do!) it was pushed to the back burner while I was in college. After getting my degree in Interior Design - I went straight into the field working at a small residential design firm.
I learned a lot while working in the design world about color, texture, scale, pattern and how to balance it all. After five years as a project manager, I decided to leave in order to find my own place in this world of design.
Once I had given myself some space - I remembered how much I used to enjoy sewing. There is something so magical about making something with your own two hands! I dusted off my old machine and started creating. A few months later I was setting up at my first pop-up market here in Fort Worth, TX. It was an absolute joy to meet people and introduce them to this craft!
After one year in business, I must admit, I have learned a LOT. I am still practicing my craft and navigating my way to my signature style. My dreams are to make + sell quilt patterns, become a licensed surface pattern designer and maybe one day start teaching others to sew! (Wish me luck!)
I am so grateful to have you all follow along on this journey with me. Welcome!
