Hello everyone! I've written a blog post about my introduction to block printing as a technique, but today I'm expanding upon that idea. In my previous post I printed on some canvas for the backing of a baby size Natural Harmony Quilt. Then I wrote a second blog post with a creative way to use up your scrap stash with block printing as well. Be sure to check those out!
My latest quilt pattern The Footpath Quilt Pattern includes 6" x 6" (finished) blocks in the center of each flower motif. One of my testers used this as an opportunity to frame some paper pieced I Spy blocks so I wanted to try this with block prints.

If you've never block printed before check out my first blog post for more information on getting started. I began with inspiration from some of our recently travels. I carved several blocks with inspiration from my photos. Started with sketches and then carved up some blocks! I tested them on paper first and actually used several of these motifs in my upcoming fabric collection with Moda Fabrics.

Gather your supplies:
- Muslin - yardage will vary based on your quilt size. I only needed (9) 6 ½" x 6 ½" blocks for the baby size (plus extra if you mess up!)
- Stamps! (buy or carve!)
- Screen Printing Ink (I mixed several colors to get this olive green)
- Roller
- Plastic tray or acrylic (to spread the paint)

You can see this a little better over on Instagram where I shared this Reel. I love how all my blocks turned out! I mixed and matched several motifs.

Next I sewed them into the Footpath Quilt Pattern. I'm in love with how this turned out! I'm going to quilt this with some ½" quilting and make it a wall hanging in our entryway. If you try this please share it with me!
