Over the past several years of writing this blog, I realized that there are a LOT of projects on here that can help you bust your stash of fabrics. If you have a huge stack of scraps that are just waiting for the right project this blog is for YOU. I've rounded up the ultimate list of ten scrap buster projects for you this summer. Let's jump in!
Bookmarks
This is a simple way to use up some of those scraps quickly! They make a great, easy gift for anyone you need to whip something up for too.
Scrunchies!
Another great gift and super simple sewing project to finish in minutes.
Italian Tiles Quilt Pattern
Did you know this quilt pattern includes instructions for making a scrappy version?? It DOES! It will break down every block and show you how to bust that stash of scraps easily.
Practice Your Quilting Designs
and then...turn them into a wall hanging or pillow! I have a few tutorials for pillows here, but this is a great way to check a quilting design before you put it all over a quilt.
Quilt Block Wall Hanging
This is a fun way to use up your extra blocks OR the smaller pieces in your stash. Start by sewing up one extra block, quilt it and you're done! Another great way to test out a quilting design before you put it all over your quilt.
Quilt Block Tote Bag
Similar to the wall hanging - use up extra blocks or just your scraps! This makes the perfect wrapping for a quilt as well. If you've got the quilt done and want to use up any leftover fabric - make a little bag to wrap it up in!
Quilt Block Table Runner
I love this idea for testing out color combos! If you're unsure about the fabrics you want in a quilt - test out some scrap combos and make a table runner!
Scrappy Quilt Binding
I love doing this at the end of a quilt. Anything that is 2 ½" wide, regardless of length, gets thrown into the pile for binding. It's a great way to tie everything together AND not be left with a bunch of waste.
Advent Calendar
This is a quick and easy way to use them all up and make a cute decoration for the holidays!
Block Print & Frame Your Scraps
This one takes a bit more effort, but I think it's worth it. If you're really wanting to get creative try block printing your scraps. It doesn't take anything fancy - give this post a read. I promise you can do this!
After ALL these scrap buster options...
