I have been dreaming of the day when I would see my name on the selvage of a fabric collection and I cannot believe it is now a reality. This dream started in 2019 when I took the first ever Immersion course that Bonnie Christine offered. I had previously taken every other class I could find from her on Skillshare.
I was listening to a portfolio review and someone said that the boy fabric market is underserved. My heart started racing because I am surrounded by that exact market every day. I wanted to design a collection that was inspired by each of my three boys - Henry, Oliver and Milo. Luckily - Moda Fabrics liked my idea and now we all get to see it come alive in the world. One year ago, I finished my first fabric collection portfolio.
The twins, Henry & Oliver have already been a source of inspiration. When I found out I was having twin boys I designed The Brothers Quilt pattern for their nursery. When they were really little and we would leave them with grandparents or baby sitters we decided to come up with a color coding system - Green (like olive) for Oliver, Blue for Henry. It seemed to make things easier. So, naturally that's where I started with each of their color palettes.
Henry's collection is made up of blues. When I started this collection he was in chess club at their little preschool and was ALL about it. (It's not been verified that he fully knows how to play chess, but he does know more than me about the game!) He is our organized one. He can sit and color or do puzzles for hours at a time! He also loves a good accessory like a bowtie, a vest, a hat or sunglasses. He's already figured out how to read in Kindergarten and wants to read everything in site.
Oliver's collection is made up of greens. He's our outdoorsman. If he could go to school outside he would. He will be found outside - no matter the weather! He is our messy one, our spicy one and our curious one. He loves every truck on the planet and makes collections of leaves, flowers, rocks and acorns. Don't tell him, but Santa is bringing him a Mud Kitchen for Christmas this year so he can add it to his "workshop" in the backyard.
Then there is our little caboose, Milo. Milo is our little sunshine - our sMilo. He earned that nickname from Henry when he was just a baby. Henry was so excited to tell us he saw Milo smile he yelled, "Milo SMILOWED!" He's got a lot to learn and discover, but he's well on his way. He hasn't met music he can't dance to and he usually leaves his shoes behind when he is running after his brothers (along with a trail of crumbs). When he was born his hair looked very red, but now it's gotten very blonde. So, his color palette came together easily.
I hope you'll love these fabrics as much as I do. I created some very obvious motifs on some of the fabrics, but others I wanted to be good blenders or binding. All three of the collections have a Mudd print that link them together. These are perfect for tiny piecing or binding.
All of these fabrics are available for quilt shops to order right now and will be shipping Summer 2025 for you all to purchase. There are several precut options available as well! I can't wait to see what you all start making with these.
I'll be sharing more about these soon but with this collection debut I will also be releasing THREE new quilt patterns named after each of the boys. These quilt patterns will release March 7th, 2025.
